I came across an article on one of the websites I read regularly that caught my interest.
One of the oldest music programmes in England is a Show called “Desert Island Discs”. It has been running regularly since 1942.
Today I want to introduce this game to Mystery Lyrics.
The rules are simple: You are stranded on a desert island. (How you know this before hand escapes me, but never mind.) You are allowed
- 8 Records or CDs
- 1 Book. You don’t need to take the Bible or other religious book, because its already there. So are the complete works of Shakespeare
- 1 Luxury Item. Your luxury item cannot be anything that might aid your escape from the island (like a boat…), or anything that would produce music, like an iPod
So, what would you take with you, and why?
Think about it and put your suggestions in the comments box below.

Thanks to the BBC’s “Desert Island Discs” and to Yellow Swordfish for inspiration
Well, after presenting the Who’s “Won’t Get Fooled Again” the previous week, I obviously thought it would be appropriate to fool myself last week. Thing is, I always check the songs I want to present on the Billboard Website to make sure that they are in fact tunes that hit the US charts - no point in sending clues to songs that you have no chance of recognising… Anyway, I obviously looked at the wrong song, as I noted that it reached no. 46 on the Billboard charts in 1968, whereas it did in fact get to number 1 in 1967. This made of course a gimme for a lot of you, which I hadn’t quite intended
| No matter, let’s see what you make of this clip. The artist concerned was one of my favorite vocalists in the 70s. She has had a long career, and is still singing.
I remember Kent talking about this song a few years ago, saying that he had gone out to buy the LP just because of this song, (which is also what I did) so I know some of you will recognise it. Just for the record, I have been unable to find any Billboard statistics for this song (how convenient lol) Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Knowing that you are all lovers of good music, I’m sure you won’t mind me plugging one of my favorite artists on this page. Many of you will know that I got to know Caro, one of my idols from my youth, a couple of years ago, and since then have been involved, designing the official fan webpages. Now, at last, Caro’s latest album is available at CDBaby, and thus to the US music loving public. You can preview the album at www.caro-fans.com and buy at CDBaby if you like it. Or … a long shot, if you’re a reader of Forgotten Hits, there are 3 Caro LPs to be won |

Welcome to another round of Name that Tune. I’ve been fine-tuning the website, and am now close to what I want, just having a few problems formatting the pics at the bottom.
Hope you’re all thinking about the Best Albums of all Time feature by the way… its impossible to hold a poll if your nominations don’t come in…
Todays offering hit the Billboard Charts in April of 1968 and peaked at No. 46 1967 and got to No. 1 (thanks for the correction Mike). Who can remember this song? It a classic one in the UK, but the USA? Who knows?

By the way, if you keep your eye on the right sidebar on this page, then you will see what is going on at Total Oldies and on the Forgotten Hits Blog… great feature, huh?

Caro has signed with the oregon based CD distributor CDBaby. This means that her current album “Eternity” is now available on the American Market.
The album was originally released only on the German market to critical acclaim - but read for yourself..
“This is music with soul and for the soul ” Rocktimes
“Caros music is inspired by an almost melancholy touch, which does not sadden, no, it has the capability, despite all its earnestness, to celebrate life.” Moonsound Records
To celebrate the US release, a track from Eternity is included as an mp3.
Caro - Why. Enjoy

Welcome to the Mystery Lyric Awards 2008
Now you have the opportunity to vote for your musical favorites ! Over the next few months (probably) I will be inserting a number of forms where you will be asked to nominate your favorite album, singer etc… From the nominations I will take the 10 most nominated in each category and ask you to vote for the best…
Today I ask you to nominate your favorite albums of all time! This is spread across more than 15 categories, but if you feel a category has been left out, then you may add your comments at the foot of the page and I will correct things.
About the form: The only mandatory field is the email address. Otherwise just enter your favorite LPs (Artist and Title please) as you see fit…
The form will be on this page for a week at least, depending on how you take to the idea… so there’s no rush
And, dont forget to hit the “submit” button below the form to send it over to me
time to play another game of “Name That Tune”. Before we start though, I would like you to have a look at the latest “Song of the Week”. Due to the lack of page views, I get the impression that most of you arent aware of this feature…, or at least didn’t know that the second song is up on the page. After listening, please don’t forget to rate the song by clicking on one of the stars…
Todays offering shouldn’t prove too difficult, especially if you watch a certain series on TV…
