merry xmasWelcome to a new round of Mystery Lyrics with your Internet Host, Dave.

Christmas is approaching quickly, and as always it seems to be upon us before we are ready for it… I hope you will take a moment from all your stress to have a look at todays lyric ;) Also, whilst you are here, why not have a look at the Mystery Lyrics Forum and tell us which is your favorite Christmas Song. There is also a thread wondering if Amy Winehouse is going to end up like Janis Joplin. Lastly, dont forget the Amazon links on this page. We have no birthdays on the list today.

Todays band evolved out of another british rock/blues combo that had one big hit both sides of the Atlantic and is a classic still. They started off life with a debut LP which was full of merit and a single which stormed the charts, and is also considered a rock classic today. Whereas the lead singer of this band is considered to be one of Englands finest rock singers, I have always considered the rest of the band to be competent musicians, but nothing special (but that didnt stop the Beatles either lol). The band changed their lead singer along the way, but eventually rechanged to the original lineup. More recently the singer went on tour with the remaining members of Queen. The song I am looking for is from their first album, which in my opinion is still their best

The Lyrics:
I WANT ALL YOUR LOVE TODAY JUST TO KEEP ME FROM FADING AWAY

That is from “Don’t Let Me Down” by Bad Company. It was track #4 on their 1974 debut album, “Bad Company”.

IF I HAD A LOVE THAT WAS SO TRUE
THEN I WOULDN`T HAVE TO MAKE DO
WITH THE HALF A LOVE THAT I HAVE FOUND
THAT IS TEAR IN ME DOWN TO THE GROUND

DONT LET ME DOWN, DONT LET ME DOWN
DONT LET ME DOWN, TELL ME LOVE CAN BE FOUND

IF I HAD A LOVE THAT WAS SO REAL
AND WHO WOULD KNOW THE WAY I FEEL
I WANT ALL YOUR LOVE TODAY
JUST TO KEEP ME FROM FADING AWAY

DONT LET ME DOWN, DONT LET ME DOWN
DONT LET ME DOWN, TELL ME LOVE CAN BE FOUND

finally something I actually have on hand. Bad Co. and I believe you characterized them perfectly……don’t let me down (yet another nod to the beatles, (and by the way, I will agree that george, john, and ringo were adequate musicians, but mccartney changed the way the bass was played in rock and roll, only eclipsed, in my humble opinion, by Sting). Paul Rodgers….yeah….I loved him, but nowadays he records with so much echo that who knows. Anyway, thanks for this nugget.
